There has been so much happening at ‘The Book Room,’ here at particularbaptist.com. So much that there isn’t enough time to settle down into a blow by blow description. All across the library (The Book Room) section of the site there have been improvements, link checks and additions, extra content added, projects completed and others begun. So the best thing to do is pop over to The Book Room and have a look around. Work is continuing at quite a pace, so be sure to check back often for more.
So what are a couple of the highlights?:
– ‘The Life of William Farel,’ by Melchior Kirchhoffer, has now been completed and is available via HTML, PDF and on the Scribd platform (accessible via The Book Room). Find this via Church History at The Book Room.
– ‘Foxe’s Book of Martyrs,’ by John Foxe is being greatly improved, with a much better second version of the book currently being added to the site. This will also be available in HTML and PDF formats, as well as on the Scribd platform. Find this via Church History at The Book Room.
– ‘Memoirs of the Life, Times and Writings of Thomas Boston of Ettrick,’ by Thomas Boston is also currently being added to the site in both HTM and PDF formats, and will also be available on the Scribd platform. Find this via Church History at The Book Room.
– There is also a wealth of resources available via the various directories in the church history section of The Book Room (Charles Haddon Spurgeon, Thomas Boston, John Bunyan, Richard Sibbes, etc – to name just a few).
So there is plenty happening and plenty to check out at The Book Room
I have been working steadily away on the various pages of ‘The Book Room’ (the Library) and making some useful progress. The number of broken links is incredible – resources that are no longer available or moved elsewhere at the various sites linked to. Slow progress, but progress none-the-less. One of the pages I have actually completed is the ‘John Bunyan Directory.’ This is what I am hoping to duplicate across The Book Room part of the site. I think it will be really useful to visitors of the site.
It has been so long since I have been able to work on the site. I have had many plans and wanted to get started again so many times, but ill health has always stalked me and prevented me from doing so. Finally, I have been able to get back to work (and there is plenty to do). Hopefully, Lord willing, I will be able to get a lot done over the next little while. After so long it will take me a while just to get a feel for the work again. Still, I am very keen, indeed beyond keen, to get into the work.
Today, I have done a little tinkering with just a few places, which I won’t bother to link to who here – just simply isn’t a lot that has been done to warrant it. Very soon I hope that will change and that there will be substantial things to add to here. Having been so long, I really need to go over the entire site and there will be some substantial changes, including some removal of content I suspect.
The main place that I have been tinkering today is in the library section of the site and the Bibles page in particular.
So more to come in coming days.
I am back again working on the site after another lengthy sabbatical (as it were) – at least it wasn’t as lengthy a break as other times I guess. Still, back again.
This is only a very small update, yet an important one that is in preparation for the Particular Baptist Reading Group, which will be reading volume 2 of ‘The History of the English Baptists,’ by Thomas Crosby shortly. So the update has simply added links to the necessary pages at both The Book Room and the Church History Institute. So this just means that the particularbaptist.com website will have all of the links to these volumes on Baptist history.

I have been working on the infrastructure of the ‘Wider Church’ part of the site, with the focus at this stage on Africa. Building the infrastructure for the Wider Church part of the site will take some time to complete, but I think the effort will be worth it and will provide the backbone for what I hope to achieve with it. I do believe this is a very important aspect of the site overall.

I have also been able to get a fair bit done over at ‘Kevin’s Portal’ also:
The many months of frustration are other – my hosting issues have now been sorted and work has begun on the site once again. For quite some time, I had been unable to update ‘Kevin’s Portal’ and then it disappeared completely. I have finally been able to move that entire site over to the hosting service I use for everything else and it is all up again, along with a few improvements and continuing enhancements. I am just so pleased to have finally got it all sorted, as now I can get on with the work.

Slowly but surely this link will become available across all of my sites – I think all of the Blogs have been updated, along with a few other social networks and web applications (with many more to be updated).
I have also been working on the ‘Wider Church’ section of the site. I am keen to have a page for every nation of the world there eventually, along with various facts and pieces of information concerning the Lord’s work in these places (especially from a Reformed perspective). I will have RSS feeds concerning these countries from my Random Thoughts Blog, which will include various articles and videos on persecution in those countries. This will take time to achieve, but the work has begun.

After months of waiting for some web hosting issues to be sorted over at Kevin’s Portal (which currently isn’t working), so that changes I have been working on could be uploaded, it is clear that the site needs to be moved – which should happen shortly (to the hosts I use for my other sites, which do do a great job – JustHost.com). So once again there needs to be some changes to the site. Frustrating really.
